THE FUTURE OF AVIATION

Business cannot wait.
Neither can the world.

Corporations play a vital role in mitigating the impact of climate change. At VistaJet, we have been implementing environmental initiatives across operations globally to address the climate impact in business aviation. Guided by our published sustainability commitments and reporting obligations including our annual TCFD and GHG disclosures under the GHG protocol and TCFD framework, our environmental initiatives are rooted in a strong belief that every action we take today shapes our tomorrow. We actively recognize the need to act decisively in line with the global climate change agenda.

Our current initiatives include increasing our use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to reduce lifecycle carbon emissions from flights, financing independently verified carbon-credit projects that support climate action and sustainable development around the world and reporting our progress transparently in line with the GHG protocol.

SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL

Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is a general term referring to a fuel which is produced from sustainable feedstocks (both biogenic and non-biogenic) such as waste oils and synthetic kerosene. The use of SAF reduces the total lifecycle carbon emissions, dependent on feedstock and pathway, typically by around 80% compared to conventional jet fuel1 and is considered a key lever for decarbonizing the aviation industry.

The SAF market remains nascent with SAF supply being very limited and prices considerably higher than for conventional jet fuel. Nonetheless, VistaJet is working to increase the use of SAF across the fleet and has already secured 43m Liters of SAF2 on behalf of its clients with more in the pipeline. We only source SAF that is certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC).

“blended SAF” is a mix of conventional jet fuel with fuel that is produced from sustainable feedstocks, also known as “neat SAF”. All our blended SAF has a minimum mix of 25% neat SAF.

CARBON OFFSETTING

Carbon offsets are a widely recognized mechanism to support climate action, alongside emissions reduction efforts.

By purchasing verified carbon credits from projects, which are certified by the likes of the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Gold Standard, we support climate action and sustainable development projects around the world.

VistaJet calculates its CO2 emissions in line with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and funds independently verified carbon-credit projects on behalf of its clients to support climate action associated with their journeys.

Environmental reporting

We are committed to transparency in our efforts to decarbonize our operations. Every year we record and publish information relating to our carbon footprint in the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting report, as well as providing climate related financial disclosures in line with the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

“WE ARE COMMITTED TO MAKING AVIATION BETTER”

“This means changing the way we operate, to benefit not only our clients, but the whole global community. The industry as a whole must step up to combat climate change and its impact today — its the right thing to do and we all have to act now.”
