THE FUTURE OF AVIATION

Business cannot wait.
Neither can the world.

Now more than ever, corporations have a vital role in mitigating the impact of climate change and protecting the planet. That is why at VistaJet we have been incorporating environmental initiatives across our operations globally.

We are proud of leading the conversation around environmental stewardship in private business aviation. Our environmental initiatives are rooted in a strong belief that every action we take today shapes our tomorrow, recognizing the need to act decisively in line with the global climate change agenda.

We are implementing several strategies to reduce and mitigate our environmental impact. These include the use of sustainable aviation fuel, carbon offsetting and transparent reporting.

SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL

Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is a general term referring to a fuel which is produced from sustainable feedstocks (both biogenic and non-biogenic) such as waste oils and synthetic kerosene. The use of SAF reduces the total lifecycle carbon emissions by up to 80% as compared to conventional jet fuel and is considered the key route to decarbonizing the aviation industry in the near future.

The SAF market remains nascent with SAF supply being very limited and prices considerably higher than for conventional jet fuel. Nonetheless, VistaJet has set an ambitious target to transition towards the use of SAF across its fleet and has already secured large volumes of SAF with more in the pipeline. We only source SAF that is certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC). Currently, VistaJet is using biogenic SAF produced from used cooking oil.

“blended SAF” is a mix of conventional jet fuel with fuel that is produced from sustainable feedstocks, also known as “neat SAF”. All our blended SAF has a minimum mix of 25% neat SAF since 2023.

CARBON OFFSETTING

Carbon offsets are an internationally recognized way to counteract carbon emissions.

By purchasing verified carbon credits, which are certified by the likes of the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Gold Standard and Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), we are supporting climate action and sustainable development projects around the world.

VistaJet calculates its CO2 emissions in line with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and purchases verified carbon credits on behalf of its clients to compensate for the emissions generated in flight in its entirety. By 2025 VistaJet plans to offset the emissions across its entire business.

Environmental reporting

We are committed to transparency in our efforts to decarbonize our operations. Every year we record and publish information relating to our carbon footprint in the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting report, as well as providing climate related financial disclosures in line with the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). These reports can be viewed here >

“WE ARE COMMITTED TO MAKING AVIATION BETTER”

“This means changing the way we operate, to benefit not only our clients, but the whole global community. The industry as a whole must step up to combat climate change and its impact today — its the right thing to do and we all have to act now.”
